Nelly Furtado, Hedley and Dragonette to Headline NYE

By STEVEN BANKS

With millions watching across the country and more than 60,000 people in person at Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls, it’s going to be one of the biggest New Year’s Eve events Canada has seen. And Grammy winner Nelly Furtado is just one of the reasons why! The Big Hoops singer joins JUNO Award-winning Vancouver group Hedley and fellow JUNO-winning electro-pop trio Dragonette to headline ET Canada's New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls on Global.

Hedley is set to help ring in 2013 on ET Canada's New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls bash.

Joining Roz Weston in our studio this week, Nelly says she’s “so excited” to be joining ET Canada’s star-studded lineup. But she admits performing outdoors will be a challenge, telling Roz: “I’m planning my coat already… It’s kind of like Survivor for singers! Being out there in the cold for a New Year’s gig is like ‘Will my voice survive?’… But at the same time you’re being watched on television so you have to make sure you’re not making any crazy faces!!!!"

The songstress says she has never sung the traditional midnight anthem Auld Lang Syne, but she jokes “[I] feel a remix coming on!” We can’t wait to hear it!

Dragonette joins our star-studded NYE lineup.

Be sure to catch all the show stopping performances on our fourth annual ET Canada’s New Year’s Eve at Niagara Falls on Global on December 31, 2012 starting at 10 p.m. Join in on the two-hour coast-to-coast countdown hosted by Cheryl Hickey and Matte Babel, with the help of Rosey Edeh, to ring in 2013 with a bang - as 2,000 pounds of fireworks launch from the Skylon Tower, Niagara Gorge and for the first time, directly above the Falls.
