Rick on His 'Bond, James Bond' Junket in NYC...

By ET CANADA

By far my favourite junket assignment has been Skyfall this past weekend in New York... SoHo to be exact. Minutes from all the knock offs you can dream about on Canal Street in China Town and all the pasta and espresso you can fantasize about on Mulberry Street in Little Italy!

Okay, maybe the fantasizing about pasta is taking it a bit too far, but you get what I mean! Another dream that became a reality was interviewing the cast of a James Bond movie! I've waited 23 "007" flicks (50 years) to do this and it finally happened at the Crosby Hotel!

Now of course there was a lot of hurry up and wait, but it was worth every second of waiting to chat with Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Berenice Marlohe and Naomie  Harris. In other words, James Bond himself, the flamboyant villain, the boss and TWO - yes two Bond girls and at the same time... it's like I had died and gone to British secret service heaven!

I had met Daniel before, on the red carpet of Casino Royale in 2006 before the premiere of his first kick at Bond in London and he was super pumped to play one of the most iconic characters of all time. But this time he was a little more subdued... maybe because of the fact that I was interview #51 for him in just one day and there were nine more people waiting behind me.

He was very pleasant and friendly though and kept looking at my 50th anniversary Bond Omega watch... only 1007 were made and of course the man playing Bond would most definitely have one right? You'd think he would be showered with all 007's toys he'd want... that would just make sense!

Although I didn't go there as Daniel talked about the Aston Martin DB5, which is a cool million dollars, that was used in Goldfinger, Thunderball and Golden Eye. They brought it back for Skyfall and along with it, the nostalgia... I'm pretty sure Daniel doesn't own one of those, but sure as heck would like too... again I didn't go there, but just saying! Anyone listening over at Aston Martin?
