Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Garner Talk 'Batman vs. Superman'

When it comes to bulking up in preparation for playing a superhero, Hugh Jackman is something of an expert. To play Wolverine, Jackman famously ate 6000 calories a day and underwent a gruelling weight-training regimen, gaining a solid 20 pounds of muscle in a matter of months.

So it should comes as no surprise that Ben Affleck, in preparation for playing Batman in Zack Snyder's upcoming Batman vs. Superman, has consulted with Jackman about fitness.

"I have a great trainer for Ben," Jackman told ET Canada's Rosey Edeh. "But Ben is poised to crush it. I’m really happy for him. I’m so happy he got the part. The difficult part of the role is the Bruce Wayne part. I think he will crush it, and I’m really excited to see what he does. He’s ready for it. I love Ben—he’s super smart, very talented, and he will be around for a long time. I think people are gonna to love it."

Similarly excited about the prospect of Ben Affleck playing Batman is Affleck's wife, Jennifer Garner.

“I’m excited about Batman, of course,” Garner told ET Canada's Roz Weston. “Everything we do, we look at it together, and  we say, 'Can we handle this? Can we take this?' And this was one where we were like, 'Let’s go to Michigan!'”

Batman vs. Superman will be filmed in Detroit. The tentative release date is July 17, 2015.
