'SpiderMan 2' Cast Tease Sequel Secrets
Earlier this weekend we showed you the teaser for The Amazing SpiderMan 2 featuring Jamie Foxx as the new big bad, Electro. A day later we got the chance to pick the cast and director Marc Webb’s brains about the new film and Spidey’s adorable new fan.
Jamie opened up about his daughter’s infatuation with co-star Andrew Garfield who just happens to be playing her favourite superhero, saying “when she saw [Andrew] on set her eyes kind of lit up. She asked me ‘dad, SpiderMan’s gonna kick your butt, right?’” The White House Down actor continued, saying “[Andrew] was really warm with her,” before giving us a taste of his spot on impression of the actor.
And what does Andrew think about stepping into the role of superhero to kids everywhere? “I don’t really identify with it,” he tells us “all I’m doing is filling a costume, but if I get the chance to make a four year old smile, I’ll take it. There’s no better feeling than that.”
Director, Marc Webb told us that this time around, SpiderMan’s really got his work cut out for him. “SpiderMan is really good about being SpiderMan,” Marc says “Electro is god-like, he’s like Poseidon or Zeus, he becomes a commander of electricity, something that you haven’t seen before and that power, that idea of having to come at somebody who, when you touch him, you’ll have a thousand volts rattling through your body – how to do you confront that when your web conducts electricity?”
And when we caught up with Marc later in the press line, the director gave up another little tidbit about Canadian actress Sarah Gadon’s role in the film. “Sarah makes a number of appearances in the film, in a Hal 9000 way” alluding to the primary antagonist in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Tune in to ET Canada on Monday to see more with the cast of The Amazing SpiderMan 2 and more from Comic-Con!
