'Lawless' Shia LaBeouf Defends His Bad-Boy Behaviour

Speaking candidly to our Rosey Edeh at the Cannes Film Festival Shia LaBeouf admits he's no stranger to trouble, describing himself as "a gold fish with a shark fin tied to my back.”

The actor says it’s his vulnerability and insecurity that makes him want to fight – like the brawl he famously got into outside a bar in Vancouver last October. “Stupidity brought that on...  that’s really simple," says the Lawless star. "I’m a human being, I make mistakes. I’m learning and I’m growing.”

The 25-year-old had a difficult childhood growing up, with an alcoholic and heroin-addicted father. So, at 10, he embarked on his career without his parents knowledge... mostly to escape poverty.

“It was really just me and my mom,” the actor says. “My pop was out of the picture and like most kids in downtown Los Angeles, if you were white, you were fighting.”
