Bill Clinton On Keeping Bin Laden's Death Secret

By SARAH KOO

Former US President Bill Clinton confesses to Ellen DeGeneres his wife never told him about the plan to take out Osama Bin Laden.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, was famously photographed covering her mouth in anticipation as she watched the raid on Osama Bin Laden's complex, alongside President Barack Obama. She was one of a few privy to "Operation Neptune's Spear," the plan to capture the al-Qaeda leader.

On "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", Bill recalls the moment he found out about the successful takedown, saying it was President Barack Obama who first contacted him. "I'm pretty sure that I was notified by the White House, not the State Department, which is exactly the right thing. She (Hillary) never said a word to me about this," he reveals.

He also recounts how he insisted on halting the security briefings former presidents usually receive, when Hillary took the job, and reveals why: "I never want to inadvertently say something that complicates their job. So I didn’t know about it until they told me. She never said a word."
