Lucy Liu's Butt-Kicking Routine
Elementary star Lucy Liu is known being one tough lady. Not only does she play a fierce Dr. Watson on the hit show, she's also mopped the floor with bad-guys in action flicks like Charlie’s Angels and Kill Bill. Off-screen however, the actress is more than happy to get her butt kicked with a tough work out. “Pilates introduced me to muscles I never even knew I had,” reveals Lucy in the March issue of Fitness, “Ten years of Pilates has really changed my body for the better. I’m smarter, stronger and more confident than I was in my twenties,” says the 44-year old. “I know who I am now, and I’m more accepting of myself.
Although Lucy certainly feels the pressure to stay fit, she tells the mag she's always had a healthy relationship with food. “Part of being an actress is that people are going to judge you whether you gain or lose weight—it’s just sort of a given. But I've never had issues with food. When I was growing up, my family didn't have a lot. So if there was food, I was going to be eating it!”
Not only has her work out routine brought balance to her life, but it's helped solve some of her old 'problem areas'. “Pilates and running help to clear my mind and they really strengthen me. Pilates has engaged my core and made me feel more confident in that area. I don’t have long legs so I've never said, ‘Oh, I love my legs.’ But I feel like they look longer and feel better than they ever have with the combination of Pilates and running.”
