Jessica Alba Covers InStyle

By SARAH KOO

She's long been one of Hollywood's hottest actresses and style icons, but now Jessica Alba is being widely recognized for possibly her greatest achievement, as an eco-activist and co-founder of the green product line The Honest Company.

In her latest interview with InStyle, the magazine's February cover girl reveals why, despite her demanding acting career she took on the cause. "When I was pregnant, I was cleaning my dishes and doing laundry and I found there were toxic chemicals in all of the products," says the mother of two who learned even minimal exposure to toxic chemicals can lead to serious problems for children. "You can't turn a blind eye to that. Creating this company was something I had to do."

Jessica says motherhood opened her eyes to many things, including fashion: "My style is more adventurous since I became a mom. In the past, I was into my uniform of leggings and a sweater. Now I'm willing to try bold prints, bright colours, and different cuts."

But don't expect this fashionista to follow all of the latest trends. "Never say never, but I probably won't ever wear booty shorts," she reveals. "I feel pretty confident about that. And I don't like oversize shoulder pads." But one fashion secret weapon she can't live without is her tailor: "Whether you shop at H&M, Topshop, Target, Forever 21 or buy high-end, if you get your clothing tailored, you can look like a million bucks."
