Ke$ha Talks Animal Activism in Seventeen

By CHANDRA PRICE

Pop star Ke$ha shares the February cover of Seventeen with a special little furry friend, a cute little kitten, so it's no surprise that the party girl and musician is a huge animal lover.

She opens up with the magazine about her passion for creatures of all kinds: "I've been involved in animal rights issues and animal activism since I was little because my family's really involved with it."

The Humane Society International Global Ambassador reveals she grew up in a house where rescuing animals was "just part of what we do." She explains, "My mom rescues dogs from all over the world... we play music and we rescue animals."

And Ke$ha had a number of wild encounters after her last tour, when she went on what she calls a "spirit journey." "I went from scuba diving with sharks in the Galapagos and then I went free diving with whales and then I went to South Africa and I was rehabilitating lions at a sanctuary," she tells Seventeen. "So it's a role I take super seriously... I love animals."
